Send the wrong word in a message on OnlyFans and you could get flagged, restricted, or in the worst case permanently banned. OnlyFans uses automated content moderation that scans messages, posts, and bios for restricted terms, and the system doesn't care about context. How does OnlyFans content moderation actually work?
OnlyFans combines automated keyword scanning with manual review:
- Automated scanning runs on every message, post caption, and bio update in real time
- Flagged content is either auto-blocked (hard-banned terms) or queued for manual review (soft-restricted terms)
- Context doesn't matter to the automated system. The scanner matches words, not meaning
- Repeated flags escalate your account risk level, making future content more likely to be reviewed manually
- Penalties range from content removal to temporary restrictions to permanent account termination
That third point is the one that catches people. You can write a completely innocent sentence and still get flagged, because the filter is matching strings, not reading your mind.
What words are banned on OnlyFans?
Absolutely banned: instant flag
These words immediately flag your content and may result in account action.
Age-related terms. Any reference to minors, underage, "teen" or "young" in a sexual context. Words like "barely legal," "jailbait," "loli," or age-specific numbers used suggestively. "School," "student," and "schoolgirl" combined with sexual content also fall here.
Violence and non-consent. Rape, assault, force, non-consensual, abuse. Chloroform, drugged, unconscious, passed out (in sexual context). Kidnap, trafficking, slavery.
Illegal activity. Specific drug names, weapons, illegal substances. Escort, prostitution, pay for sex, or "meet up" implying in-person services. Bestiality and animal-related sexual terms.
Why so strict? OnlyFans is legally obligated to prevent this content. There's zero tolerance and zero flexibility. Even accidental use of these terms in an innocent context will trigger a review.
Restricted terms: may trigger review
These don't result in instant action, but they raise your account's risk score.
Familial terms in sexual context. Mom/mommy, dad/daddy, brother, sister, step-sister, step-mom, and "family" combined with sexual content. Worth noting: "daddy" is everywhere in the creator space and generally tolerated on its own, but combined with other restricted terms it compounds the risk.
Bodily function terms. Certain explicit terms for bodily fluids and functions. This varies by context. Some are fine in adult content, others trigger review.
Financial solicitation. "Cash," "Venmo," "PayPal," "CashApp." OnlyFans prohibits directing payments off-platform. "Gift card" and "Amazon wishlist" count too when presented as payment for content, as does "tribute" in a financial context.
Meeting and location terms. "Meet," "meetup," "in person," "IRL," "real life." City names combined with suggestive content. Hotel, room number, address.
The logic here is simple: OnlyFans wants to prevent off-platform transactions (they lose their 20% cut) and in-person meetups (liability risk).
Context-dependent words
Some words are fine in normal use but problematic in certain combinations:
- "Free": "free preview" is fine, but "free [sexual act]" may flag
- "Young": "young entrepreneur" is fine, "young and innocent" in adult context flags
- "Forced": "forced myself to wake up early" is fine, sexual context is not
- "Drunk" / "Wasted": social context is generally fine, combined with sexual content flags
- "High": "high quality" is fine, implying intoxication during sexual content flags
- "Blood": medical context fine, combined with sexual content flags
Payment and solicitation terms
OnlyFans actively blocks attempts to move transactions off-platform:
- Direct mentions of external payment platforms (PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, cash, crypto, Bitcoin, and so on)
- "Send money to," "pay me at," "tip me on"
- External link solicitation for payment purposes
- Promoting competing platforms, in some contexts
"Input contains restricted words": how to avoid it
For creators
- Review every message before sending. Read it with "what would an automated scanner think?" in mind.
- Avoid restricted terms even in innocent context. The scanner doesn't understand nuance.
- Use alternative phrasing. The table below covers the most common swaps.
- Don't mention external payment methods. All transactions should go through OnlyFans.
- Be extra careful with PPV captions. These get scanned more aggressively because they're monetized content.
- Check your bio regularly. Bios are scanned too, and terms that were fine last month may trigger flags after policy updates.

Agencies managing multiple creators face amplified risk. One chatter's mistake can affect the creator's entire account, and when you have ten people sending hundreds of messages a day, someone will eventually slip.
Training chatters on restricted words is critical:
- Create a chatter handbook with all restricted terms
- Review chat logs regularly for compliance
- Use real-time monitoring to catch issues before they escalate
Will my account get banned for using a restricted word?
Not usually, not for one word. Here's how it typically escalates:
First flag (warning): the content is removed or blocked from posting, and your account gets flagged for closer monitoring. If it's clearly accidental, there's usually no permanent consequence.
Multiple flags (restriction): temporary restrictions on messaging or posting, a manual review queue for all new content (which delays your posts), and possibly a temporary account suspension.
Severe violations (ban): permanent account termination, loss of all subscriber revenue, payout of your remaining balance (usually within 90 days), and an appeal process that's difficult to impossible.
The pattern to internalize: no single message is worth risking your account. When in doubt, don't send it.
Is there an official OnlyFans restricted words list?
No. OnlyFans maintains the full list internally and updates it periodically without public notice. The lists circulating online, including this one, are compiled from creator experiences, compliance tools (the Ceartas word list is a common source), and community reports.
That's exactly why this guide is organized by category rather than pretending to be exhaustive. A word that was fine last month may flag today. If you think a word might be restricted, err on the side of caution and rephrase.
